Chat Pile cover Nirvana’s Bleach deep cut “Sifting”

Chat Pile have released two new tracks, “Masks” and a cover of Nirvana’s “Sifting.” Both tracks were originally only available via a limited-edition seven-inch Sub Pop pressing announced late last year.

With an affinity for Seattle music, Chat Pile wanted to honor the early era of Sub Pop with a cover and decided on “Sifting” from 1989’s Bleach. “Songs like ‘Paper Cuts,’ ‘Negative Creep,’ and especially ‘Sifting’ are fairly lateral to the type of sounds we make with Chat Pile,” the band say.

To mark the double single release, the band also donated $3,000 to DREAM Action OK, who help empower local immigrant communities. Later this summer, Chat Pile will be playing a handful of festivals across the U.K. and Europe. Stream their new songs and see their 2026 tour dates below.
